After spending almost three weeks in Bali, checking in to Artotel Haniman in Ubud was a modern escape that I didn't know I needed. My husband and I had been staying in budget to mid-range accommodation that lacked the western comforts we were accustomed to in the United States and Artotel had all of them (and more).
Fluffy pillows? Check. Bath robes? Yup. A shower that's separate from the toilet? Thank goodness. Artotel was also the first hotel in three weeks to provide body lotion. This may sound silly, but it's the little things that add up to a comfortable stay.

Artotel Haniman is located in the heart of Ubud near the famous Jl. Hanoman road. You'll find pretty much everything you need on Jl. Hanoman road, including money exchange centers, ATMs, cafes, shops, pharmacies, supermarkets, and more.
I really enjoy this part of town because it's slightly less busy than Ubud Centre, making it more pleasant to walk around. There's no need to rent a motorbike because most restaurants, shops, and attractions are within walking distance of Artotel.
Full Circle is a restaurant that's attached to Artotel and breakfast here is included with your stay (more on that below). Don't miss the wonderful espresso drinks, brioche french toast, and a breakfast sandwich called the "breakfast butty."
Suka Espresso is a cute little cafe near Artotel. We ate lunch at Suka every day because we loved it so much. They make the best iced almond milk latte that I've ever had! Don’t miss the "monkey business" and "berry good" smoothie bowls.
Twist is tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves an upscale dinner for a small price. It's best to make a reservation because there's only a few tables. Contact them on WhatsApp (+62 818-0532-9870) to snag a spot. Don’t miss the caramelized pork!
Artotel Haniman costs around $70-100 per night, depending on the studio and season. It’s the perfect mid-range accommodation with exceptional breakfast and plenty of extra perks. Check the rates for your specific dates here.
Ok, but we need to talk about breakfast for a minute (or should I say, for multiple paragraphs... because it's that good).
In Bali, it’s standard for a basic breakfast to be included with your hotel stay. The quality and offerings vary from hotel to hotel, but it usually looks something like this: a) traditional balinese coffee, b) mixed fresh fruit, and c) choice of egg dish with toast.
You won't find this at Artotel Haniman.
Artotel Haniman has seriously stepped up the hotel breakfast game by partnering with the neighboring restaurant called Full Circle, a Concept by Expat Roasters. Included with your stay at Artotel is a selection of not-so-basic breakfast offerings like brioche french toast topped with caramelized banana and espresso ice cream, eggs benedict, smoothie bowls, and a unique creation called the “breakfast butty," which is the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had.
But here's the best part...
Full Circle is a restaurant created by a coffee roaster, so espresso beverages like lattes, cappuccinos, and americanos are included with your breakfast voucher. This is pretty much unheard of and I don't think you'll find specialty coffees included with your breakfast at any other hotel.
To add a little more context as to why this matters, I'll just say this: 1) traditional balinese coffee not great, and 2) espresso drinks are expensive in Bali.
My husband and I love espresso, so we'd return to Artotel Haniman for this reason alone.
Artotel Haniman has three different room types that are categorized by size: Studio 20, Studio 30, and Studio 40. We stayed in the largest room, Studio 40, but choosing a smaller room would offer the same great experience.
Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool or jungle.
